This ongoing partnership between Nordstrom and League at Large features works by League artists Alison Jones and Lay-Ing Oji, solicited through an open call. The July 2023 installation celebrates Nordstrom's Anniversary with its signature color: YELLOW!
League at Large is a program that showcases the work of League artists in public venues outside of the League in order to increase exposure to and appreciation of their work.
Alison Jones
Alison Jones is an artist and designer born in the UK who lives in New York City with her two daughters. She holds a BA & MA in printed textiles from Middlesex University and The Royal College of Art. Jones made her mark working at distinguished retailers like Habitat, Pottery Barn and West Elm. As Director of Product Development she traveled the globe sourcing and developing products for the home industry. After the loss of her husband in 2017 she made a shift to painting and has been exhibiting her work in New York City, San Francisco, and New Jersey. www.alisonljones.com
Lay-Ing Oji
Lay-Ing Oji was born in Sarawak, Malaysia. Her abstract art is always composed from personal experience, poetry, and philosophy. Oji’s paintings are combined media on canvas. Natural materials and found objects are often incorporated with acrylic paint to create subtle layers to serve the need of each work. Somewhat transparent layers reveal only intended areas are her way of narrating the story, feeling, and concept of her paintings. The gradation of nuance tones resonate not only the spirit of the ancient Chinese but also Japanese literature & poetry.
