POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager, Information Technology, is responsible for overseeing IT infrastructure and cybersecurity for the Art Students League of New York (“the League”).
This position provides infrastructure oversight of core technical operations, ensuring the secure and effective operation of computer systems, applications, hardware, and software within the organization. This position will create and implement IT policies and systems aligned with the mission/vision of the League, with the goal of ensuring that IT systems, supporting staff, and outside consultants, are effective and function on budget, in a timely manner, and within approved specifications. It includes working with project teams to design and implement internal systems.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide leadership, direction, and support in the development and deployment of the organization’s information technology infrastructure across all departments.
- Provide technical support to League staff and troubleshoot computer problems.
- Develop and maintain the League’s databases, and internal and external networks.
- Be responsible for developing a strategy and maintaining compliance around cybersecurity framework standards and data security for all technology resources.
- Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems.
- Maintain an inventory of the League’s information technology resources.
- Lead the configuration, selection and implementation of enterprise tools and technologies shared across the organization.
- Oversee IT customer service for students, faculty, staff, and administrators for their technology needs that arise throughout the League’s calendar.
- Strategically manage the League’s IT operating and capital budgets, in direct consultation with the CFO.
- Oversee all related training of the League’s community members around information technology.
- Consistently seek opportunities to leverage information technology to streamline workflow, reduce administrative costs, and enhance teaching and learning.
- Recommend ways to leverage technology wherever possible to simplify student experience through applications and integrations.
- Relay information between departments.
- Install and update software and hardware as needed.
- Prepare annual capital and expenditures budgets, as needed for all IT projects and initiatives.
UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS JOB:
- Experience leading an IT function with minimal supporting IT staff.
- Direct experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation.
- Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis, and computer hardware/software systems.
- Proven ability to identify problem areas, define solutions, and promptly implement solutions.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, if needed.
- Work as a dynamic team member in a professional collaborative environment.
- Prioritize effective partnerships between IT and other departments.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Degree(s) Required/Preferred:
- A bachelor’s degree and relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, PMP, CISSP, or CISM) are preferred.
Years of Experience Desired:
- 10 – 15 years of experience in professional IT settings, a significant portion of which is in a leadership capacity.
Industry or Product Knowledge:
- Direct experience in an educational setting is not required, though it is ideal.
Core Skills/Abilities Required:
- Effective candidates will possess skill and experience in project management, network facilitation, and broader network integration.
Additional Skills/Abilities Helpful:
- An effective candidate will need to have superior people and management skills, know how to motivate and lead a team, understand and collaborate with the different constituencies of the League and possess the technical knowledge and relevant hard skills to maintain and improve the League’s existing platform.

BENEFITS:
The salary for this position will range from $110,000 - $125,000, based on a candidate’s background and experience. In addition, this position is eligible for the League’s full range of benefits, including health insurance and 401(k)plans, as well as other fringe benefits offered through the Art Students League of New York.
