This exhibition displays four midsize maquettes created by Sydney Shen, Henry Roundtrip Marton Newman, Patricia Espinosa, and Malin Abrahamsson for the Art Students League’s Works in Public program. These maquettes showcase the process behind the four large-scale sculptural installations currently mounted in Riverside Park.
The Works in Public program is a professional development program that was begun in partnership with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation in 2010.
Works in Public trains a diverse group of League artists in the process of creating large-scale sculpture for outdoor public spaces. Over fifty artists have completed this program and had their sculptures installed in year-long public exhibitions at Riverside Park South between 59th and 72nd Street and Riverside Park North 145th Street.
