In August 2022, thirty-nine League students were awarded scholarships to study at the League based on the merit of their work. This exhibition presents work they created during the following year. League scholarships are awarded by a jury of professional artists, critics, and gallerists who are selected and invited to participate by the League’s curatorial staff and Artistic Director. Merit Scholarships are given in support of full-time study at the League and are made possible by the support of the Friends of the League and other generous donors. For a full list of named scholarship supporters, please visit our website.
Merit scholarships are awarded in three main categories; Abstract, Realism and Semi-Abstract/Semi-Objective.
More than two hundred artists competed to win the thirty-nine scholarships awarded in 2022. Their portfolios were reviewed by jurors Mitra Abbaspour, Will Cotton, Patricia Cronin, David Kassan, James Lee, Christian Viveros-Faune, Jasmine Wahi, and Shoshanna Weinberger.
