Featured Speakers

Sherwin Banfield

Sherwin Banfield is a Queens-based mixed-media artist with recent work attempting to explore journeys of identity and ancestry. Banfield's creative practice tends to deconstruct the imaginative and physical journey of identity within his preferred subject matter, the human experience. While exploring the journey of his subject, he would seek to draw a connection between their personal stories and established culture, frequently imposing mythological and imaginative ideas as accessories within his sculptures. Recent projects build upon experimental ideas of encompassing various mixed materials with traditional sculpture; lighting, sound and solar power that he refers to as Sustainable Sonic Sculpture.

Jules Arthur

Jules Arthur was born in St. Louis, MO and moved to New York City in 1995 to attend The School of Visual Arts, where he received a BFA with honors in 1999. The following year, he was privileged to receive guidance from Robert Blackburn while attending the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop. He has been given a commending review in the New YorkTimes for his “deft draftsmanship.”  Committed to the path of a lifelong student of life and art, he can be found frequently in continuing course studies at the renowned Art Students League of New York. He states, “If one is to master the human form one must remain in constant pursuit of it.”

Steven Cartoccio

Steven Cartoccio aka Concrete Jungle is a sculptor and animator from New York currently residing in Jersey City. He attended the Art Student’s League before enrolling at theSchool of Visual Arts, where he created Concrete Jungle, an animated series about humans and animals coexisting in New York City. Cartoccio has created collectible statues with hip-hop legends like Nas, Outkast, Wu-Tang, Rakim, Redman, The Notorious B.I.G. and many others.
